Advancing Safety and Innovation in EU Construction

The EAD Action Plan: a success story

EOTA is pleased to announce the completion of the EAD Action Plan, a joint action agreed between the European Commission and EOTA with the aim of clearing the backlog of European Assessment Documents (EADs) pending citation in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).

Over the last year, the European Commission and EOTA addressed 100 EAD projects,98 falling within the scope of the Action Plan.

By January 2024, 79 EADs were published in the OJEU, and another 10 are set to be cited soon. Nine projects were integrated into other EADs, and two EADs were cited in support of the Action Plan.

This milestone has significantly benefited the industry by expanding the range of safe and innovative construction products available to users in the EU and beyond. On top of this, streamlined EAD procedures will ensure timely CE marking of novel products.

The experience gained from the Action Plan will strengthen cooperation between EOTA and the European Commission, facilitating quicker citation of future EADs.
